SUMMARY:Design and Installation Considerations for Stone Masonry Veneers
DESCRIPTION:IIBEC – Canadian Prairies is hosting a Lunch ‘n Learn talk on “Design and Installation Considerations for Stone Masonry Veneers”. The event will be held February 16th, 2023. Lunch will be served at 11:00. The talk will begin at 11:30.\nJoin us for an IN PERSON talk, on Design and Installation Considerations for Stone Masonry Veneers. Event will be held at the Calgary Construction Association in the Legacy Room.\nOverview: Stone masonry veneers both full bed and adhered have been gaining popularity in Alberta in the last few years. The presentation reviews the types of stone masonry and refreshes the designer’s knowledge of stone masonry design. The types of stone masonry covered in the presentation include full bed stone masonry veneers, anchored thin stone masonry veneers, and adhered thin stone masonry veneers. Design recommendations based on bond testing for adhered stone veneers over exterior insulation and exceeding 10 feet in height are presented. Some considerations for site review of stone masonry veneer installation are also covered. A brief discussion on meeting the NECB 2017 requirements with stone veneers is also discussed\nLearning Objective 1 – Understand important construction details and installation requirements for full bed and anchored thin stone veneer, including meeting the NECB 2017 requirements.\nLearning Objective 2 – Understand important construction details and installation requirements for adhered stone veneers, including meeting the NECB 2017 requirements.\nLearning Objective 3 – Understand the Four different design cases for adhered stone veneers (trim, veneer up to 10′, above 10′ and over exterior insulation)\n \nThis talk is being presented by Mark D. Hagel. This Lunch ‘n Learn is good for 1 CEH credit and 1.0 learning credits with the Alberta Association of Architects.\n \nAbout the presenter:\nDr. Hagel Holds a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science and Applied Mathematics, Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering all from the University of Calgary. Prior to employment with the Alberta Masonry Council, Mark as a Building Envelope Engineer and Structural Engineer with the Calgary office of Halcrow Yolles. Mark’s thesis dissertation, “Service Life Prediction of Connectors in Masonry Veneer Wall Systems”, was heavily rooted in building science, structural engineering, and the durability of building components. In 2018 Mark served on the National Research Council of Canada’s (NRC) working group that developed the Guideline on Design for Durability of the Building Envelope. Mark has also taught first year engineering courses as a sessional professor at both the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University\n \nDesign and Installation Considerations for Stone Masonry Veneers .main-table_424,.main-table_424 td,main-table_424 tr { border: 0px solid #000000 !important; } .row-qty { width: 15%; } .row-name { width: 30%; } .row-price { width: 15%; } .row-desc { width: 40%; }01234567891011121314151617181920212223242526272829303132333435363738394041424344454647484950In Person40.00 CAD0123456789101112131415161718192021222324252627282930313233343536373839404142434445464748495051525354555657585960616263646566676869707172737475767778798081828384858687888990919293949596979899100Student CADBe prepared to provide proof of status at the door.Your eTicket will be emailed after payment to your PayPal email address.\n \n*** If you require proof of attendance certificate, please email IIBEC.CPC@gmail.com following event attendance.
