DESCRIPTION:IIBEC – Canadian Prairies is hosting a Lunch ‘n Learn talk on “Glass Chat – A Lite Presentation with Clear Information”. The event will be held March 16th, 2023. Lunch will be served at 11:00. The talk will begin at 11:30.\nJoin us for a HYBRID event, on Glass Chat – A Lite Presentation with Clear Information. The Event will be held at the Calgary Construction Association in the Legacy Room, but will also be live-streamed virtually. Those who purchase a virtual ticket will be sent the link separately to the email address attached to their Paypal transaction.\nOverview:\nWe see glass every day in countless applications, you’ve probably already seen it in a dozen different forms already today. But what exactly is glass made of? How is it produced and where does it come from? We are going to look into the versatility of glass and learn some of the industry fundamentals.  We want you to come away with a new appreciation for glass and how much you actually interact with it every day. We will dive into the applications of glass as it relates to the building envelope, some of the relevant standards to be aware of as well as Building Code implications.  Finally we will look at design case studies to solidify your understanding.\nLearning Objective 1 – What is glass and how is it made? Where does it come from?\nLearning Objective 2 – Describing various heat treatment methods and impacts to the envelope\nLearning Objective 3 – Be able to identify which standards are relevant and have an understanding of the design process in specific applications\nThis talk is being presented by Stephen Epp. This Lunch ‘n Learn is good for 1 CEH credit.\n​About the presenter:\nStephen Epp is a Building Envelope Engineer with RJC and is coming up on his tenth year of practice. While most people know Stephen for his involvement in the roofing industry, his engineering side hustle is glazing and facades.
