DESCRIPTION:IIBEC – Canadian Prairies is hosting the Lunch ‘n Learn talk called “What is Heritage?”. The event will be held June 15th, 2023. Lunch will be served at 11:00. The talk will begin at 11:30.\nJoin us for a HYBRID event, What is Heritage. The Event will be held at the ARCA Calgary office, but will also be live-streamed virtually. Those who purchase a virtual ticket will be sent the link separately to the email address attached to their Paypal transaction.\nOverview:\nWhat is “Heritage”, considering the Calgary and Alberta context?\nLearning Objective 1 – Understand the criteria for what “heritage” is.\nLearning Objective 2 – Know the difference between a “recognized” and “protected” heritage building.\nLearning Objective 3 – Understand what potential additional considerations there are when working on a heritage building.\nThis talk is being presented by Nikolas Marsall-Moritz, M.Eng. P.Eng, CAHP. This Lunch ‘n Learn is good for 1 CEH credit.\n​About the presenter:\nNikolas is a Professional Engineer in the Building Science and Restoration Group at RJC Engineers. As part of this group Nikolas leads and is involved in projects including evaluations and rehabilitation programs of existing structures (both historic and modern), and building envelope consulting on new and retrofit construction projects. In addition to his education in structural engineering with a focus on building rehabilitation, Nikolas was part of the Heritage Calgary from 2013 to 2022, and is currently on the APT Canada Board of Directors.
