Build Better– High Performance Walls and the Protected Assembly

IIBEC – Canadian Prairies is hosting a Lunch ‘n Learn talk on “Build Better– High Performance Walls and the Protected Assembly”.

Join us for an online talk, on High Performance Walls and the Protected Assembly.

Overview:

The Canadian construction industry is undergoing significant changes that will improve the overall energy performance of buildings. By 2030, the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) will aim to achieve net zero energy consumption for all new buildings in Canada. This means that all new buildings will have to generate at least as much energy as they consume every year. Since SOPREMA* is the manufacturer of several products used in building assemblies, it is very important for us to understand the interaction and performance characteristics of these materials to offer better system solutions.

In 2019, a generic guide intended for professionals involved in the design and construction of commercial and institutional buildings that meet or exceed the requirements of the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB 2017) was introduced. This guide described exterior and split insulated wall assemblies constructed with generic cladding attachment strategies.

In November 2021, an updated version of the Build Better Guide was launched consisting of U-Value and Effective R-Value tables featuring the ACS Thermal Clip and introducing the Protected Wall Assembly.

This presentation will provide an overview of this ongoing program including summaries of third-party validation, testing and results.

This talk is being presented by Les Yard, Building Envelope System Development Manager – Western Canada Soprema Inc. This Lunch ‘n Learn is good for 1 CEH.
