IIBEC – Canadian Prairies is hosting the Lunch ‘n Learn talk “The relevance of third-party testing and association collaboration”. The event will be held October 17th, 2024. Lunch will be served at 11:30. The talk will begin at 12:00.

The Event will be held at the ARCA Calgary Office in the Board Room, and will also be live-streamed virtually. Overview:
Many new materials are introduced into the roofing industry annually and an integral aspect of the success of these materials relies on third-party independent testing. The ARCA will discuss how they are involved in third-party testing standards and specifications and how they use this information on their material acceptance process. Many other associations are involved in testing. A productive network has been established allowing information to be shared nation wide.
Learning Objective 1 – Learn the importance of third party testing standards. A discussion on who can provide third party testing, how is it controlled and the benefits of an independent review.
Learning Objective 2 – Learn the difference between CSA, ASTM, FM, ANSI and other standards used in the roofing industry.
Learning Objective 3 – Learn how different associations share information, research and experience when reviewing new materials.
This talk is being presented by Kevin Kramers RRO. This Lunch ‘n Learn is good for 1 CEH credit.
About the presenter:
Kevin Kramers (C.E.T., R.R.O., C.T.R.) is the Technical Officer for the Alberta Roofing Contractors Association (ARCA) and has over thirty two years of construction experience in Alberta.
He is responsible for maintaining the ARCA Roofing Application Standards Manual, managing the ARCA Interdisciplinary Technical Committee, researching new products and applications, and providing technical education for building professionals in Alberta.
